Dwyane Wade is one of the greatest players to ever wear Miami Heat’s jersey. The legendary shooting guard played for the team between in two different periods – between 2003 and 2016 and 2018-2019, winning the league three times in his career. In 2006 he was chosen as the NBA finals’ MVP.

Dwyane Wade was greeted by the fans on a special ceremony in which his iconic No. 3 jersey was retired. He thanked everyone he have worked with during his time in Miami, stating that “he couldn’t have done without them”. Now Dwyane Wade is the fifth Miami Heat player who gets his jersey retired. The other ones are Alonzo Mourning, Tim Hardaway, Shaquille O’Neal and Chris Bosh.

The special ceremony for retiring Dwyane Wade’s jersey was done during the halftime of the game between the Miami Heat and the Clevaland Cavaliers. Heat won this game with 124-105.

Dwyane Wade is currently living in Los Angeles with his family, but he returned to Miami for a first time since his final game with the Heat in April 2019. Pat Riley was one of the people who took part in the ceremony.

During his speech Dwyane Wade quoted the late Kobe Bryant, who always said that it’s important to inspire all of the people around you. “I hope I inspired you”, said Wade.
